On a tight deadline to get a project delivered? We understand the pressure. We get questions on a regular basis about printing turnaround times. You may not have to worry about the subject too often, but when you’re facing a time crunch, it can be helpful to know what to expect.
Here are a few answers to some of the most common questions about wholesale printing turnaround times:
1. What does “printing turnaround” actually mean?
In the trade printing world, “turnaround” means the time needed to produce a job from start to finish. This includes printing, cutting, and any additional steps required to complete your job. This may involve binding, shrink wrapping, hole punching, or a variety of additional steps depending on the complexity of your job. The final steps include post-print processing, packaging, and preparing your order for shipping or pickup.
Printing turnaround times are always stated in business days.
2. How fast are ND4C turnaround times?
ND4C offers exceptionally fast turnaround times. Some products are even available for next-day shipping. Typically, one-page products have the fastest turnaround times, while multi-page or bound products require a little extra time. Of course, most of our products can also be upgraded to RUSH turnaround for those days when you’re in a pinch and need a job turned faster than usual.

3. When does the estimated “turnaround time” actually start?
Estimated turnaround time begins when the job goes into production. A job goes into production when all print-ready artwork has been uploaded, proofs are approved, and payment has been made.
4. Is shipping included in the turnaround estimate?
No. Shipping or delivery times are calculated separately from production turnaround times.
5. How do I avoid delays in my turnaround times?
- Always doublecheck turnaround times on the calculator before submitting your order. Your selection of stock and finishes can impact the final turnaround time.
- Respond to emails quickly. We’ll send your proof for approval and cannot begin production until you have signed off on the job.
- Factor in weekends and holidays when you’re calculating production times.
- Factor in time for shipping, delivery or pickup.
