With Every Door Direct Mail (EDDM), USPS offers a cost effective, efficient way for advertisers to easily target a large pool of customers. EDDM eliminates the need for purchasing expensive mailing lists and it cuts out the work of printing or affixing individual mailing labels.
EDDM allows a user to select specific mailing routes in a neighborhood, a zip code, or even an entire city. Once routes are selected, USPS will ensure that the marketing piece is delivered to every address in the chosen area.
USPS has specific regulations on mail pieces designed for EDDM. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the guidelines on designing a postcard that qualifies for EDDM mailing.
EDDM Mailing Requirements
EDDM mail pieces must have the mailing label completely contained within the top half of the mail piece. The “top half” of the mail piece is on the short end of the postcard. The orientation of the label does not matter, as long as the label is not upside down.
Please refer to the example above for accurate placement.
EDDM Postcard Dimensions
EDDM postcard requirements are a bit more flexible than standard USPS postcard requirements:
- An EDDM mail piece must be rectangular.
- It may have square corners, or rounded corners that do not exceed a radius of 0.125”.
- At minimum 10.5 inches in length OR 6.125 inches in height
- No larger than 15 inches in length and 12 inches in height
Our EDDM calculator has been designed to meet all USPS requirements, so you can order with confidence and trust that your postcard will be compliant.
